As the 3rd UP SOLAIR Job Fair concluded on April 11, 2025, the organizers came together for a tree-planting activity that underscored the institution’s enduring commitment to environmental stewardship and community involvement. This event, held on the grounds of the UP School of Labor and Industrial Relations, UP Diliman, served as a meaningful finale to a day that provided hope and opportunities for many job seekers.

Organized by the Center of Industry Productivity and Competitiveness (CIPC) and the graduate students from IR 222 and IR 225 under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Virgel Binghay, the tree-planting activity represented the values of growth and sustainability. Much like the job fair preceded it, this initiative aimed to highlight the interconnectedness of employment, social development, and ecological responsibility.

The same group of graduate students who organized the job fair also contributed to the success of the tree-planting activity. The team included Josephine Ang, Salve Aguil, Zarra Maranan, Carla Gob, Daryl Esquivel, Ruby May Lopez, Bernadette Alcantara, Charmaene Miranda, Gwen Bautista, Karen Cordova, Arleen Lopena, Arwin Ledesma, and Cheryl Viola, together with Arman Mangilinan, whose contributions helped bring both the job fair and tree-planting initiative a success.

Together, these events demonstrated the spirit of solidarity and active citizenship that UP SOLAIR strives to cultivate among its students, partners, and stakeholders. By linking career development with ecological action, the tree-planting emphasized that meaningful progress must take root not only in the workplace but also in the communities and environments that sustain us.

In conclusion, the tree-planting activity was more than just a symbolic gesture—it reaffirmed the values that guide UP SOLAIR’s mission: sustainability, inclusivity, and the pursuit of a better, fairer future for everyone.
