The UP School of Labor and Industrial Relations’ (UP SOLAIR) Center for Industry Productivity and Competitiveness (CIPC) achieved remarkable success with the 4th Learning Session Series (LSS#4), entitled Coaching for Impact: Empowering Growth Through Conversations. Commenced on February 26, 2026, at the Mini-Auditorium, 5F New Building, SOLAIR, UP Diliman, this session marked a shift by opening registration to participants from all sectors, resulting in an overwhelming 317 pre-registered individuals nationwide. Following a rigorous verification process due to limitations, only 78 successful attendees participated in the face-to-face seminar-workshop.
Workshop Highlights
The program commenced with registration at 12:15 PM, officially starting at 1:15 PM, facilitated by Arman Mangilinan, researcher in CIPC-UP SOLAIR. The opening ceremony included prayer and the singing of Lupang Hinirang. Dr. Verna Dinah Viajar, Assistant Professor and College Secretary, delivered the welcoming remarks and introduced the DipIR/MIR programs.
The session featured a warm-up activity facilitated through interactive slides and a short introduction to the LSS, as CIPC spearheaded this public service initiative. Its core aims are to share knowledge, upgrade industry capabilities, and foster productivity and people development across diverse sectors.
The seminar-workshop then commenced with a 10-minute pre-test. Following this, Dr. Virgel C. Binghay (CIPC Director, QA Officer, and UP Professor 12) skillfully led the main session, delivering an engaging and practical discussion focused on applying coaching principles in organizational environments.
One key element of the workshop was a dynamic group activity. Participants, divided into groups of six, tackled assigned case studies. Their written responses to guide questions were presented around the hall for a gallery walk, fostering peer-to-peer learning.
The event concluded with an open forum, a post-test, and the recognition of the top three scorers. Ms. Levi Grace Ambon-Rota of ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc. was notably recognized as one of the top scorers and the fastest to finish the test. She shared her appreciation and insights, expressing gratitude for the free seminar-workshop opportunity.
Light snacks and coffee were served, and the event concluded with the singing of UP Naming Mahal.
