September 4, 2025, Quezon City – The Center for Industry Productivity and Competitiveness (CIPC), under the Pahinungod Program of UP SOLAIR, successfully conducted the second installment of its Learning Session Series titled “Unlocking Potential Through Mentorship.” The session was held at the Mini-Auditorium of the UP SOLAIR New Building, UP Diliman, and gathered 19 participants from various BPO companies across Metro Manila, Pampanga, and Zambales. The majority of attendees were Human Resource Officers and people managers representing different branches of the BPO sector.
The program was hosted by Arman of CIPC and began with the singing of the National Anthem and an opening prayer, followed by the introduction of the speaker.

The learning session proper was delivered by Dr. Virgel C. Binghay, a seasoned scholar, educator, and public servant. Dr. Binghay currently serves as CIPC Director, Professor 12 at UP Diliman, and QA Officer of UP SOLAIR.

Dr. Binghay’s discussion focused on the importance of mentorship as a driver of professional growth and organizational success in the BPO industry, where high employee turnover and fast-paced environments make leadership development crucial. He emphasized how effective mentorship helps guide career pathways and improve employee retention.

In between the lecture segments, participants engaged in unfreezing activities that kept the energy high and encouraged active participation. These short but meaningful exercises allowed the participants to interact and refresh their perspectives while enjoying the process.

They were later grouped for case study discussions, where they analyzed scenarios and presented their insights through designated representatives. These activities highlighted the application of mentorship strategies in real workplace challenges.

The session also included a Q&A portion, allowing participants to clarify and expand on the concepts shared. A post-test was administered to reinforce learning, and among those who excelled, Mr. Rome emerged as the top scorer. He also delivered a participant’s reaction, expressing his appreciation for the session’s relevance and practical value.

The event concluded with the singing of the UP Naming Mahal, bringing the afternoon to a meaningful close.
The session was evaluated through a post-activity survey using a 5-point rating scale. The results were overwhelmingly positive, with the total average rating of 4.89:
- 85 – Program Design
- 98 – Resource Speaker
- 84 – Learning Aids, Facilities, and Support Staff
While, these are some positive comments from the participant (in verbatim):
