Quezon City, 5 December 2024 – The IR 202 class of the UP School of Labor and Industrial Relations (UP SOLAIR), under the mentorship of Dr. Virgel C. Binghay, spearheaded an eco-revamp initiative through a tree-planting activity on the UP SOLAIR campus. This sustainability effort, done in partnership with the Center for Industry Productivity and Competitiveness (CIPC), highlights the importance of environmental responsibility as an integral part of education and industry development.

During the tree planting activity, Dr. Binghay reminded the IR 202 class of the importance of giving back especially to the environment. He highlighted the importance of maintaining green spaces and in taking care of the environment. Industrial relations, he said, has a distinct connection to sustainability and ecology, stressing how people and the planet are as much an important bottomline as profitability. He also made sure that the saplings contributed were endemic species so as not to disrupt the local ecology.

As a key collaborator, the Center for Industry Productivity and Competitiveness (CIPC) reinforced its advocacy for integrating sustainability into industry practices. Its involvement in the activity reflects its commitment to shaping leaders who understand the balance between ecological well-being and organizational success.

The tree-planting initiative not only enhanced the campus’s green spaces but also aligned with UP SOLAIR’s broader mission of contributing to national development. The saplings planted during the activity symbolize a growing commitment to fostering a greener, healthier environment within academic and professional spheres.
