The 19th Certificate Course in Industrial Relations (IR) and Human Resource Management (HR) concluded successfully after a 12-Saturday training program, from September 9 to December 2, 2023, via Zoom teleconference. The primary focus of the course was on fostering competencies in industrial relations and human resource management, addressing challenges stemming from the fourth industrial revolution and the impact of COVID-19 in the workplace. The program equipped participants with the latest information on IR and HR practices, encompassing updates on pandemic effects, new regulations, laws, and guidelines at both organizational and national levels.
A total of 55 participants, comprising junior and senior professionals in HR and IR from diverse public and private sectors within and outside Metro Manila, actively engaged in the online training. Each participant, in addition to contributing to the sessions, undertook the task of developing and presenting a capstone project as part of their completion requirements. As the final event of its program, a ceremony was conducted on the afternoon of December 2, 2023, via Zoom, to confer certificates to the participants. Distinguished professors and staff from SOLAIR were in attendance, and Chancellor Edgardo Carlo Vistan II of UP Diliman conveyed a congratulatory address during the event. Dr. Virgel Binghay presented the roster of individuals who successfully completed the course and also concluded the event with his closing remarks.
Appreciation is given to all the resource speakers and staff who played vital roles in the program's success. The organization of the program was led by the UP SOLAIR Center for Industry Productivity and Competitiveness (CIPC), under the direction of Dr. Virgel C. Binghay. The learning sessions and capstone project presentations were facilitated by subject matter experts, including Prof. Jorge Sibal, Atty. Chezie Demegillo, Atty. Leo Battad, Dr. Ronahlee Asuncion, Asst. Prof. Benjamin Velasco, Atty. Rosalio Aragon Jr., Dr. Virgel Binghay, Sophia Francesca Lu Chua, Johnson Aspacio, Janeth Jose, Prof. Rolando Santos, Ginalyn Harder, Perla Bernardo, Dr. Maria Catalina Tolentino, and Ramon Certeza. Program coordinators Brian Anthony Gumiran and Arman Mangilinan, along with dedicated program staff, including Irene Sia, Ruskin Angelo Cinco, Rosalie Sebastian, Rowena Melican, Jumelyn Villar, Jack Valenzuela, Nelia Vega, April Galang, Paulo Ileto, and the late Miradelfina Lumpas, ensured the program's overall success.
